The Ƶ Herbarium’s first published book, “A Guide to Gingers of Sorsogon” contains descriptions and photographs of many gingers including 11 species endemic to Sorsogon. It was a finalist in the 40th National Book Awards in the Science Category.

A ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ƶ and the University of Zagreb was made possible through the Ƶ Global Conference spearheaded by the Ƶ Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) and in collaboration with Ƶ IRO.

Dr. John Anthony Yason, dean of the Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing of Far Eastern University, led the “EU-COST-NUS Workshop on Parasitology and Microbiomes: Blastocystis Culture and Applications” in Singapore recently. Meanwhile, members of the Ƶ Medical Technology Research Committee took part in hands-on exposure and laboratory sessions.


British Columbia Post Secondary Education and Future Skills (PSFS) Minister Selina Robinson visited Ƶ to strengthen the collaboration between the British Columbia and Philippine educational sectors through the promotion of international education and partnership that would benefit students and alumni of both regions.


The IARFA Student Council (SY 2022-2023) completed its #ColoringOutsideTheLines project, which underpins Ƶ’s Diversity and Inclusion policy. The designs of the locker murals located at the 4th Floor, AFB Hallway symbolize different causes such as body positivity, inclusivity, equality, and equity for the LGBTQIA+ community, differently-abled individuals, and cultural differences.

AUGUST – Ƶ WRP inaugurated the much anticipated in-door rope wall climbing at the Arts Building Gym. The new sporting activity aims to unlock the greatest potential of Tamaraws– boosting their physical, mental, and social health.



The Ƶ Community Extension Services (CES), in collaboration with Ƶ ITHM, further strengthened its livelihood project with Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) through the launch of the Bread of Hope Bakery.
Started in July 2021, Ƶ CES and ITHM’s Bread of Hope provided PDLs with new skills and knowledge on breadmaking, which became not only their source of income but also a source of light and hope.

These events emphasized the crucial significance of both technical and interpersonal skills within the medical field.

As Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness form the backbone of Ƶ’s identity, Ƶ Vice President for Corporate Affairs Rowena Capulong-Reyes shared her insights with the university managers and supervisors on ethical awareness in her “Empowering Tam Employees through Corporate Ethics”.

The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, visited Ƶ and conducted focus group discussions and interviews with different stakeholders. This is in line with the Vitae Employability project that aims to improve the employment outcomes of Ƶ graduates.

The Department of International Studies together with the Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino’s Honorary Consul General Jean Henri Lhuillier, hosted a special lecture entitled “Beyond Diplomacy: Cultural Ties between the Philippines and the Republic of San Marino”.

Dubbed Ningning at Liwanag, the Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, in collaboration with the FCA, Ƶ IARFA, and Ƶ IAS, featured a Filipino poetry workshop, an art exhibit, and a book launch.

McGraw-Hill Education (Singapore) Pte Ltd. hosted an awarding and recognition ceremony for the Ƶ Group of Schools key persons who were instrumental to the successful implementation of McGraw products in the Tamaraw community.

“A Guide to Gingers of Sorsogon,” authored by Rudolph Valentino Docot and edited by Dr. Sandra Yap, was announced winner of the 2022 Gintong Aklat Awards’ Science and Technology category. Published by Ƶ Publications, the book is the first guide that showcases the diversity and exquisiteness of the family Zingiberaceae in the Philippines.

The Ƶ Public Intellectual Lecture Series (PILS) released a new instructional video on the topic of AI, Education, and the Future of Work. The discussion tackled the implications of the rise of artificial intelligence to the currently available courses in universities and future jobs.

SEPTEMBER – Ƶ Institute of Education (IE) in partnership with Ƶ IRO welcomed the six Indonesian student participants of SEA-TEACHERS Student Exchange Program – Batch 9 from the University of Halu Oleo, Universitas Negeri Malang, and Universitas Negeri Surabaya.



Six buildings in Far Eastern University (Ƶ) are National Cultural Treasures, said the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through Museum Declaration-1-2018.
Along with the announcement, Ƶ unveiled in a small ceremony the special marker awarded to the university as a symbol of its historic and cultural significance.

The event reviewed the university’s financial performance, discussed strategic plans, and elected new members to the board.

ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) visited Ƶ for the assessment of the programs BA Language and Literature Studies and MA Psychology.

OCTOBER – Ƶ Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) benchmarked with the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism at the Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus. This internationalization initiative aims to provide more opportunities for ITHM students.


The Ƶ Administration Building received the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification. This recognition underscores Ƶ’s unwavering commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible building practices.



PANTAY, Pride PH, and the Commission on Human Rights launched the “Rainbow Report Card” in ƵManila. With the backing of the Embassy of the Netherlands in the country, the accomplishment of guidelines for monitoring sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics was made possible among Philippine schools under the Project Gender Equality Index for Schools or Project GEIS.


In celebration of the National Tamaraw Month, the Ƶ Alumni Relations Office (ARO), alongside the Ƶ Alumni Foundation, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-MIMAROPA, organized the Kalikasan Para sa Kabataan or Kali Camp.
The event discussed topics on personal purpose, leadership, root cause analysis, project design, 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and sustainability principles.

OCTOBER – Ƶ and the People Management Association of the Philippines teamed up in a collaborative effort to advance education and professional development in the field of Human Resource Management.

Senior Tourism and HRM students had their Entrepreneurship Sales Blitz Presentation entitled: TamBlitz2023: “Diversifying Tourism Products of Central Luzon in the Lens of Sustainability and Innovation”. The students showcased their innovative and sustainable products from different provinces of Central Luzon.








The Ƶ ARO organized the 2023 Ƶ Grand Alumni Homecoming, bringing together not just the alumni of the Manila campus but all the campuses in the Ƶ Group of Schools: Alabang, Cavite, Diliman, Ƶ Tech, High School, Makati, and Roosevelt.

The event aimed to further Ƶ’s reach with international HEIs from the Republic of Indonesia for potential partnership.


Embracing diversity in communication through visual arts, Ƶ IARFA Ƶ-IARFA, in partnership with the Far Eastern University, Fundacion Sanso, and Art Lounge Manila, launched “Multiformity” exhibit, which showcases the multitude of materials, media, and techniques.

The Ƶ Film Movements Festival, organized by the Department of Communication, featured 13 progressive and alternative cinema selections commemorating the 75th UDHR anniversary.


The annual University-Wide Year-End Party carried the magical theme “Ƶantasia: Ƶ Goes Disney”.
